PLOT

MEMORYLEAK follows Sam Sussman, a 19-year-old Texas native whose life changes after witnessing a strange object crash in his yard. Drawn into a growing local mystery surrounding the off-limits facility known as Clear Wood—a towering compound hidden in Lampasas—Sam investigates the site and discovers experimental firearms, alien technology, and a mysterious prototype headset.

After entering Clear Wood, Sam encounters hostile containment teams and is forced to flee with help from a friendly robot named Hemi. Together, they uncover that the experiment at the heart of Clear Wood may be linked to an extraterrestrial group aiming to disrupt a solar alignment by connecting the tower to the moon. The facility draws the attention of a group called the Tower People, and soon, military forces flood the streets. Lampasas enters lockdown as Sam becomes a wanted fugitive.

Sam and Hemi travel through checkpoints and abandoned routes into downtown Austin—now a militarized wasteland—in search of the key to unlock the headset's full potential. Pursued by containment teams, they eventually locate a portal that leads Sam to an off-world prison on a space asteroid. There, he meets Jaye, a fellow prisoner who helps him escape back to Earth.

Upon return, Sam finds Hemi disabled and Clear Wood closing in. Donning the prototype headset triggers a deeply immersive virtual sequence. When Sam returns, he discovers he's been cloned. The authorities abandon pursuit and instead detonate a nuclear device inside Clear Wood, covering their tracks. With time running out, Sam regroups with Hemi and Jaye. Faced with the destruction of Lampasas, they prepare for one final stand.

The story blends grounded Texas locations, Cold War echoes like Operation Longhorn, and a sci-fi conspiracy involving alien tech, military secrets, and catastrophic cover-ups.

The full narrative remains classified until the game’s release to preserve canon accuracy and avoid spoilers.

!DEVELOPMENT !

MEMORYLEAK™ began development in late 2023 under Liminal Echo Games LLC, a Texas-based independent studio founded by Noah J. Garcia. Created as a solo-led project, the game was built in Unreal Engine 5, blending real Texas history with science fiction, surrealism, and interactive storytelling. Its world draws heavily from Lampasas, Texas, with storylines tied to Operation Longhorn and speculative government technology hidden in a place called Clear Wood.

From the beginning, the game has focused on deep narrative immersion, stylized realism, and platform versatility. Early development involved use of Quixel Megascans, Sketchfab assets, custom 3D scans, and layered rendering techniques. The team also utilized restored VHS footage, newspaper clippings, and authentic Texas imagery to ground the experience in both a physical and emotional reality.

By early 2024, internal builds were running across PlayStation 5 Dev Kits, Steam Deck, Xbox Series X|S, and The Valve Index. Core gameplay included both first- and third-person systems, reactive dialogue scenes, and physics-based interactions. Noah also experimented with unique hardware integrations, including VR support and a proposed Steam Deck sync mode that echoes the Wii U’s asymmetric gameplay.

Development was temporarily paused in June 2025 as Noah entered rehabilitation. After completing treatment, he returned to active development in July 2025 with a sharpened focus on polish, optimization, and cross-platform performance. That same month, Liminal Echo Games began production on a mocap-based promotional video, featuring Noah in-character as protagonist Sam Sussman. The video serves both as a technical showcase and an in-world teaser, featuring items from the game like the Lampasas coin, Clear Wood helmet, main menu, and basement intro sequence.

The project is funded in part by early Investors, which helped secure hardware, software, and performance capture tools. Additional plans include expanding to a physical studio location in Austin, TX, hiring voice talent, and offering professional-grade motion capture services to other developers through Liminal Echo Games LLC.

As of July 8, 2025, MEMORYLEAK™ is in Beta stages of development, targeting an official release date of somewhere in 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is planned for a later date.

MEMORYLEAK AS FEATURED IN THE LAMPASAS NEWSPAPER!

In early 2024, Noah J. Garcia and MEMORYLEAK™ were featured in the Lampasas Dispatch Record, highlighting the game’s unique blend of Texas history and narrative-driven gameplay. The feature marked a turning point in local recognition for the project and helped build early momentum within the community.

Liminal Echo Games extends sincere gratitude to the Lampasas Dispatch for shining a light on the project’s roots and vision. A very special thank you goes to Erick Mitchell, whose support and encouragement played a meaningful role during the earliest stages of MEMORYLEAK™’s development. His belief in the story — and the story behind the story — continues to be felt.

There is a black-and-white photograph of a man in a military uniform, identified as a chief of the Aggressor military government team, in the center of the page.

OPERATION LONGHORN

A major narrative thread in MEMORYLEAK™ draws from Operation Longhorn, a real-life U.S. military exercise conducted in 1952 in and around Lampasas, Texas. Orchestrated as part of Cold War readiness efforts, Operation Longhorn involved over 20,000 troops and simulated the invasion and occupation of an American town. Soldiers parachuted into rural Texas, staged checkpoints, and even coordinated with the FBI and CIA for crowd control, propaganda dissemination, and psychological testing — all under the guise of a “training exercise.”

From Fiction To Reality

For Noah J. Garcia, the event provided a perfect launch point for a fictional conspiracy:
What if Operation Longhorn wasn’t just a drill?
What if a deeper truth was buried beneath the official narrative — one involving altered memory, government secrecy, and technologies hidden in plain sight?

MEMORYLEAK™ takes that question and runs with it. The game imagines an alternate reality where the exercise led to something far more permanent — the creation of a shadow facility called Clear Wood, nestled in the hills near Lampasas and shrouded in surveillance, silence, and strange technology. Through protagonist Sam Sussman, players begin uncovering what’s been hidden for decades beneath Texas soil — not just by military personnel, but by time, fear, and selective memory.

The result is a game rooted in real history, but told through the lens of fiction, survival, and personal discovery.

The poster concludes with the statement, 'While the aggressor is here,' with the word 'AGGRESSOR' circled.
